Uttarakhand State to develop 25 ITI institutes with World Bank aid under ‘Workforce Development Project’

Dehradun: The state government is set to develop 25 ITI institutes in collaboration with the World Bank. The decision was taken in a review meeting by skill development and employment minister Harak Singh Rawat a few days ago.

These 25 institutes are a part of the World Bank’s ‘Workforce Development Project’ which will include providing better infrastructure as well as streamlining the courses as per local needs and resources.

According to Rawat, all the institutes will focus heavily on ‘on the job’ training and internships. “We have asked these institutes to sign Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) with multiple industries and then impart training according to the needs of the industry,” the minister said. He added that the project will benefit the state’s youth and support the Uttarakhand Skill Development programme. “We are a leader in the country in skill development and these 25 ITI institutes will greatly help us better our performance,” Rawat said.
