Mumbai: With the intention of contributing to the Skill India Mission, Carnival Skill Foundation in association with Retailers Association’s Skill Council of India (RASCI) and support from National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), launched their first-of-its-kind hybrid Retail Centre of Excellence (RCOE) in Mumbai.
This foundation has been launched with a mission to support the growth of masses to acquire skills enhancing their employability for available jobs today and shape their future career.
Carnival Group Founder and Chairman Dr Shrikant Bhasi said, “Contributing to the growth of our society has always been one of the top priorities of Carnival Group. We hope to enhance the cinema experience of the patrons by inducting well-trained manpower in the industry whilst enabling respectable livelihood for Indian youth.”

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15th July 2015, the Skill India Mission aims at empowering youth of the nation in different skills by 2022. The mission aims at vocational training and certification of Indian youth to secure a better livelihood and respect in the society.
Carnival Skill Foundation has been instituted under this mission to make India the Skill Capital of the World. This RCOE would be a destination point to bring Industry demand and Talent supply on one platform whilst creating a talent pool of relevantly skilled, certified and employable workforce as per National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) aligned Qualification Packs, Assessed & Certified by RASCI.

Commenting on the RCOE launch, RASCI Executive Head & Joint Central Apprenticeship Adviser, MSDE, GOI James A. Raphael said, “The Carnival Group is pioneering great work through this dedicated RCOE enabling youth to acquire NSQF Certification, aligned with the Skill India Mission under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. We are happy to partner with them in skilling fresh talent for available jobs & up-skilling their existing workforce, leading to enhanced dignity and pride. This initiative would generate employment options leading to respectable livelihood whilst enhancing the overall experience of customers at their Multiplexes.”
It will attempt to meet the needs of organisations to have a broader, diverse portfolio of skills and knowledge to create a more versatile workforce in the Multiplex, Food Retail, Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs). The foundation will serve a curriculum created & endorsed by the industry, for specific skillsets and will involve an interesting mixed pedagogy of Classroom training, Action Learning Programs, and On-The-Job Training.
The curriculum shall also include skills like Etiquette, Grooming, Personal Hygiene, Communication, basic English, Emergency Response Techniques, Customer Responsiveness, Inclusiveness and basic Financial & IT Literacy. Carnival Group already has a reputed and well-established chain of multiplexes – Carnival Cinemas. Hence, the syllabus and curriculum designed shall have the added benefit of real-time experience and knowledge. The venture is also in alliance with FuturZ for staffing and placements.
