In a step towards fostering inclusivity and skill development for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI). Spearheaded by Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, this partnership aims to equip PwDs with essential skills tailored to various job roles within the electronics sector.
The collaborative MoU signifies a concerted effort to nurture human resources through vocational training that meets industry demands. By harnessing the expertise of ESSCI, the initiative endeavors to create pathways towards sustainable livelihoods and cultivate a workforce that is globally competitive.
The MoU includes:
Vocational Training: ESSCI commits to providing vocational training to PwDs in alignment with the standards set by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET).
Placement Opportunities: ESSCI will facilitate engagement with potential employers and industrial networks to ensure seamless placement opportunities for trainees. Placements will guarantee a monthly salary compliant with the minimum wages act and industry benchmarks.
Post-Placement Support: ESSCI will extend post-placement support by offering counseling and tracking services for a minimum of three months, ensuring the continued success and integration of PwDs within the workforce.
This collaborative endeavor represents a significant stride towards inclusivity and economic empowerment, reaffirming the commitment of DEPwD and ESSCI to creating an enabling environment for PwDs to thrive in the electronics sector.
