Visakhapatnam: GITAM Deemed to be University signed a MoU with Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC) here on Friday. This was done to create a sustainable skill ecosystem aligned to the industry needs for logistics by developing best occupational standards, delivering quality training and efficiently conducting apprenticeship-based Under Graduate Degree Programme (BBA Degree) in Logistics from the academic year 2019-20 and calendar year 2020.
GITAM Registrar Prof KVGD Balaji and Logistics Sector Skill Council Chief Executive Officer Capt. TS Ramanujam exchanged the MoU documents in the presence of GITAM In-Charge Vice-Chancellor Prof K Sivaramakrishna. Logistics Sector Skill Council, (LSC) is a not- for- profit organization set up by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) through National Skill Development Corporation of India (NSDC). Logistics Sector Skill Council is governed by its Governing Council comprising eminent Captains of Industry.
As part of MoU, the LSC will support GITAM to conduct apprenticeship-based Under Graduate Degree Programme in Logistics and also ensuring all students of the program, on their successful completion of the Degree, are placed at a level commensurate their capability in Logistics Sector.
During the interaction Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC) Chief Executive Officer Capt.T S Ramanujam said that developing a skilled talent pool of 28 million work-forces in the logistics industry under various sub-sectors through eminent training partners is the main vision of government.
LSC Academic Consultant S Ganeshan, GITAM Institute of Management Principal Prof P Sheela, Vice-Principal Prof U Adinarayana, Programme Coordinator Prasad and others participated in the interaction.
