Punjab Government signed MOU with Belarus for mutual cooperation in Skill Development & Vocational Education

Chandigarh : The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus represented by the Minister Igor Karpenko and the Ministry of Technical Education and Industrial Training of the state of Punjab represented by the Minister Charanjit Singh Channi signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Skill Development & Vocational Education. The MOU was signed during a visit by high level delegation led by Technical Education & Industrial Training Minister, Punjab to Belarus. The significant event was attended by the Ambassador of India in the Republic of Belarus H.E. Mrs. Sangeeta Bahadur.

Disclosing this here today after returning from the visit Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi said that MOU would open new prospects for both countries in the field of Technical Education and become a specific road map of mutual cooperation in the field of education between Belarus and India. Mr. Channi expressed hope that this MOU would serve as the basis for implementation of concrete activities in the field of vocational education & skill development of both countries.

Mr. Channi said that as per the MOU signed, both sides have agreed to work together in the field of Vocational & Higher Education, which includes conducting Joint Research, training of staff for establishing Skill University in Punjab, short term VET programms in Belarus for the youth of Punjab, skill up-gradation & Internships in Belarus, setting up of Centre for excellence in Punjab, Dual certification & joint staff training at higher education level and providing consultancy and advisory services to the vocational educational institutes of Punjab.He further said that this is also a step towards strengthening relations between both the counties and their peoples.The High Level delegation led by Technical Education Minister, Punjab which included Secretary Technical Education Mr. DK Tewari, Additional Director Mr. Mohanbir Singh and Director Academics Dr. Balraj Singh also visited the Ministry of Education, Republican Institute for Vocational Education and its branches – College of modern technologies in mechanical engineering and car service, Molodechno State Polytechnic College, Resource Center–Eco Techno Park Volma, Minsk State Automotive College named after academician M.S. Vysotsky, where they met students, teachers and examined methodological materials and equipment.
