Ahmedabad : With an intent to sensitize Pharmaceutical Industry (Manufacturing, Machinery and R&D) with “Benefits & Opportunities in Apprenticeship & Skill Development in Central as well as State Schemes”, Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council in coordination with Gujarat Skill Development Mission, Govt. of Gujarat organized a half-day workshop on 17th December at Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA), Ahmedabad.
Dr. Deepak Barot., Gujarat State Coordinator, Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council welcomed all the dignitaries and participants of the workshop. Mr. Ranjit Madan, CEO, Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council gave the welcome address and an overview of activities of Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council. With his speech, the stage was set for the rest of the day’s discussion.
The Chief guest of the event, Mr. Supreet Singh Gulati, Director, Department of Employment and Training, Govt. of Gujarat and Managing Director, Gujarat Skill development Mission gave his inaugural address. He emphasized on requirement of skill development and various initiatives of State Government towards Apprenticeship scheme/program. He also talked about additional incentives the TPs/Companies are likely to get once they enroll in NAPS i.e. they get additional benefits of Mukhyamantri Apprenticeship Yojana too.
Mr. Surajit Roy, Sr. Head, National Skill Development Cooperation (NSDC) gave detailed presentation on “New National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme”, the scheme benefits, registration process, portal details were explained by Mr. Roy in detail. This was followed by a Inspiring lecture from Mr. V P Mashroo, VP ( Harsha Engineers) who shared his experiences skill development of Apprentices and with utilizing them for the growth of his company. Mr. Atul Chaudhari, Head HR India Region-1, Sun Pharma gave a talk on “ Scope of Apprenticeship in Pharmaceutical Sector”. He also emphasized on importance and need for skill development through apprenticeship scheme. He also shared few suggestions or recommendations on job roles specific to pharma Industry like QC chemist etc. and also regarding working hours of an apprentice i.e. night shift in pharma Industry.
Mr. Dayanand Singh, Manager, HR, Zydus Cadila Healthcare, gave a talk on Importance of Apprenticeship. His talk was followed by Dr. Prabodh Swain’s talk on “Engagement of Industry-Academia. He talked about different courses run by Indrashil university that are approved by LSSSDC.
Last talk was given by Dr. Deepak Barot, State Coordinator, Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council in his signature style on “Introduction to LSSSDC and Skilling in Gujarat”. He did mention and emphasized on role of LSSSDC in the state of Gujarat. He also shared the job roles from LSSSDC that are on NAPS portal ready to be picked up by Industry for Apprenticeship.
The Panel discussion and Q & A was an interactive session where audience clarified their doubts on Apprenticeship, Skilling, State and Central Government schemes with the panelists (all the speakers of the day). Finally vote of thanks for given by Mr. Ranjit Madan, CEO, Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council.
The event was concluded with lunch where all the participants got an opportunity to interact with all the speakers and meet them in person.
All in all, it was a good workshop and a show put by Life Sciences Sector Skill Development council, Gujarat Skill Development Mission and Department of Employment and Training, Govt. of Gujarat and NSDC.
