Habitat for Humanity’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter focuses on expanding access to affordable housing, by collaborating the housing and construction-related companies to offer solutions that meet the needs of about 441 million people who live in inadequate housing in India. It says “we measure our success by the growth of our partners and expansion of their products and services to better serve the affordable housing markets.”
Construction labour plays a crucial role in building durable houses and providing advice to low-income households. However, they may not be fully equipped with appropriate technical knowledge and up-to-date skills, which can lead to poor quality construction.
Training and upskilling of construction labour can lead to improved work performance and resilient homes.
The Terwilliger Center invites organizations from the construction industry and training ecosystem to submit an expression of interest, to receive financial and technical support towards strategic initiatives that address these needs. The opportunity to apply is open to organizations across the construction industry, including material and equipment manufacturers, construction companies, associations, agencies, training institutes and NGOs.
Application Process: Interested organizations may send an ‘Expression of Interest’ along with a short profile to TCIS-India@habitat.org
Last date for submission: 28 February 2019
