Maharashtra : The state decided to extend the deadline for admissions to vocational courses at the Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) from August 31 to September 24.
The move will allow students who passed supplementary secondary school certificate (SSC) examination to seek admission in the courses. As of Friday evening, around 25,000 seats in private and government ITIs were lying vacant.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) declared the results of the class 10 supplementary exams on Wednesday. Of 1,21,059 students who took the test, 28,645 (23.66%) cleared it. In Mumbai division, 4,747 out of 33,397 students (14.21%) cleared the examination.
These students will have to apply directly to individual institutes for admission, as the centralised admission process for vocational courses is over.
As per the data from the state’s directorate of vocational education and training (DVET), ITIs in Maharashtra have an intake of 1,43,998 students.
