Kochi : The third edition of ‘Niyukthi’, the annual mega job fair organized by the District Employability Centre (DEC), to be held at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is likely to witness the participation of 75-odd companies and close to 10,000 candidates.
Minister for Labour and Skill Development T.P. Ramakrishnan will inaugurate the fair on the Cusat campus at Kalamassery at 10 am on Saturday, 14th January 2017.
The third edition of Niyukthi will witness the participation of the largest number of employers. In the first two editions, 62 and 60 companies respectively came in search of able hands.
In the first edition, 12,569 candidates participated, out of which 1,632 got spot offers, while another 2,159 were short-listed. In the next edition, 8,588 candidates turned up, out of which 823 got spot offers, as against 2,485 candidates who were short-listed.
Altogether, 245 employers participated in the six job fairs, including two mega and four mini job fairs, organized in the last three years attracting over 33,000 candidates. While 3,900 candidates received spot offers, 8,105 were short-listed.
“Online registration by candidates has picked up, and we are expecting a good turnout,” said K.V. Sobikutty, District Employment Officer.
