Punjab government to organize International Job Fair aiming to provide jobs to 5000 youth in the state

Chandigarh : Punjab Government would organize first-of-its-kind International Job Fair in the country, to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who would also distribute appointment letters to the youth on the occasion.

Disclosing this after chairing a high-level meeting here on Wednesday at his residence, Industrial Training and Employment Generation Minister of Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi said the fair would be held on July 30. He also divulged that during the fair, about 5000 youth would be given jobs in companies of various countries.

The Minister further said that a three-member coordination committee has been formed, comprising three officers, which would collect the data of the youth interested in jobs and coordinate with the companies providing jobs and departments also.

During the meeting, it was also decided that agreements be inked with the technical education and skill development institutions for running joint bilateral courses and ensure employment in foreign lands for the youth after course completion.

In another important decision, it was decided to prepare the curriculum of technical education, polytechnic and engineering colleges, in accordance with the international standards, for which a three-day seminar would be held soon, he added.

Dr Channi said many Universities of international repute have offered to run bilateral courses, under which the satellite centres would be started by the international varsities.
