New Delhi : US aircraft maker Boeing Inc today launched a skill development programme in association with the aerospace manufacturing firm Jaivel to train front-line workers in the MSME segment in the aerospace industry. The programme was announced in the presence of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani at the 8th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit, a release said.
The programme, which is in line with the Skill India initiative of the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre, is aimed at accelerating the growth of domestic aerospace industry by establishing a larger pipeline of skilled aerospace workers, Boeing said in the release.
Jaivel Aerospace, a micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME), has undertaken work packages as a sub-tier supplier for Boeing’s advanced commercial airplanes such as the 787, 777 and 737 as well as defense platforms such as the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, the release said.
“This is Boeing’s first skill development initiative for aerospace manufacturing in Gujarat to ensure that entrepreneurial Gujarat businesses are ready to compete at a global scale,” Boeing India President Pratyush Kumar said.
Through the new partnership, Jaivel’s role in the local and global aerospace sector will expand, as it helps train future aerospace workers, the release said.
“This is an important investment by Boeing, not only for us but also for Gujarat’s potential to become an aerospace manufacturing hub. This is testament to Jaivel’s aerospace team and we look forward to working with Boeing to create an excellent foundation for an aerospace sector in the state,”, Jaivel Aerospace founder and chief executive officer Vipul Vachhani said.
Apart from forging such partnerships, Boeing has also been collaborating with leading Indian vocational training institutes, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and Indian partners, including MSMEs, to train workers in the aerospace industry, the release added.
