Coimbatore : Federal Bank, which has tied up with SB Global Educational Services and opened skill training centres in Kerala and Coimbatore, plans to train more number of people in these centres this year.
Shalini Warrier, Chief Operating Officer of the bank, said the academy had tied up with COINDIA and offered CNC machinery operator-cum-programmer course here. About 130 candidates were trained last year and 80 % got placement too. The candidates would be monitored for a year after they complete the programme. This year, the plan was to train 450 candidates in Coimbatore and another 450 in Kerala. The bank would also launch a pilot project in Kerala to train about 30 women in terra cotta jewellery making. The programme would be launched in three months and there would be tie-up to help the trainees market the jewellery. If successful, it would be launched in Coimbatore too.
The bank also had “Speak for India” competition for college students. This was conducted in Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra every year and this year it would be held in Tamil Nadu and the national capital region. The debate competition would be held from block-level to State-level, she said.
