India Yamaha Motor (IYM) has joined hands with Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) for affiliation of the courses running at their training schools. After this venturing Yamaha became the only two-wheeler manufacturer in India with ASDC approved training programs for “Automotive Service Technician” category under its corporate social responsibilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Masaki Asano, managing director, YMIS, said, “At present, there is a huge skills gap in the industry and a large number of youngsters are pushed towards unemployment due to lack of technical skills.”
The Yamaha Training School (YTS) project was started for economically weaker youngsters (male and female) to obtain job oriented technical training in two-wheeler repair and servicing that meets industry standards. The aim is to educate underprivileged, school dropouts and less educated youngsters for employment at Yamaha network or entrepreneurship.
With ASDC coming on board, Yamaha is hopeful of providing further better job opportunities for its students of YTS. The company has also partnered with Mudra Bank to help and support interested students in setting up a small workshop to become an entrepreneur.
As on date, Yamaha has 31 operational YTS institutions Pan India and six are in pipeline. In 2017, the company aims to open 15 additional YTS, which will make the figures reach 52 by the end of this year.
