Barbil (Odisha): Pellet Manufacturers’ Association of India (PMAI), a body of iron ore pellet producers, organised a two-day workshop for shop floor operating personnel here on Friday. Hosted by Jindal Steel and Power Ltd, Barbil the event was attended by 75 engineers and technical persons from 15 pellet plants spreading over six states across the country.
In the workshop as many as 12 technical papers were presented by eminent scientists and industry experts on adoption of industrial techniques to achieve business targets and simultaneously maintain product quality.
They too narrated the ways to upgrade the skill levels of pellet plant technicians who play a vital role in production of iron ore pellets, a key input to the iron and steel industries.
Experienced shop floor engineers also shared their views to improve efficiency of the personnel and the industrial learning techniques.
Suresha G, Unit Head, JSPL Barbil and Deepak Bhatnagar, Secretary General, PMAI welcomed the participants and dignitaries on the occasion. In his speech, Bhatnagar highlighted the role of PMAI in policy interventions with GOI.
In the inaugural address Rajeev Bhadauria, Director & Group Head, (Human Resource), JSPL encouraged the participants to focus on operational excellence. Other dignitaries on the occasion gave an overview on pellet industry in India and various challenges being faced by the industry. While delivering keynote address Dr SK Biswal, Chief Scientist, IMMT-CSIR suggested solutions to overcome the challenges.
At the end of the two-day workshop the participants were taken for a visit inside the pellet plant for an onsite experience about the process of pellet manufacturing.
Senior scientists, industry leaders and dignitaries from Institute of Minerals and Metals Technology (IMMT), Essar Steel, Arya Steel, Indian Iron and Steel Sector Skill Council (IISSSC), Fe Tech, BRPL and Tata Steel were present in the event.
