Bengaluru : European software major SAP said it would provide training in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning to nearly 15000 underprivileged youth across Karnataka over three years.
The company would jointly work with the State Government and facilitate training for Yuva Yuga, an industry-led skill development initiative by Karnataka.
Yuva Yuga focuses on skilling entry-level and mid-level employable youth, and re-skilling people with up to 10 years of experience to keep them industry-ready with relevant domain knowledge.
Dilipkumar Khandelwal, managing director, SAP Labs India, said 5000 people would be trained in 2018 and they would aim to train 15000 people by 2021.
“Our job is mainly to provide the resources, skills and the expertise,” said Khandelwal, adding that “along with the partners, the company would also support the government in creating employment opportunities for at least half of the trained youth.
SAP has roughly 7500 employees at its research and development lab in Bengaluru.
With this, the state government aims to enable the youth with “meaningful employment opportunities” by facilitating development skills on new-age technologies relevant for Industry 4.0. Such technologies include data science, machine learning, deep learning, programming language skills.
As part of the collaboration, SAP will work with ICT Society, Department of ITBT of the State government and implementation partner NASSCOM Foundation.
