Taj Hotel launched ‘Golden Threshold Programme’ to bolster hospitality skills in North East youth

Imphal : As part of the skill development initiative for the North East students, Senapati Brigade under the aegis of Red Shield Division undertook an awareness cum training programme, wherein wide publicity was given across various districts of Manipur and a total of 106 students (boys and girls) were registered and trained for the scheme, informed a press release of PIB Defence .

The Taj Hotels have recently introduced “Golden Threshold Programme”, a hospitality programme for students who have completed 10+2/Graduates/Diploma holders with hospitality background.

Under this programme, the management of Taj Hotel Guwahati, with assistance from Army, conducted an interview on September 11 and 12 at Battallion HQ 34 Assam Rifles Maram, for selecting candidates who are seeking to pursue their career in hospitality industry .

The selected candidates would be undergoing vocational training at Taj Hotel, Guwahati for one year starting form October 3 and would be paid stipend of Rs 4000 per month.

The registered candidates from Manipur were provided free accommodation and messing facilities by Maram and Jwalamukhi Battalions and various lectures/workshops were conducted by 34 Assam Rifles at Maram, in order to train them and prepare for the interview, the release said.

A total of 27 candidates were selected after the interview.

The candidates were given joining instructions and necessary directions from the Management of Taj Hotel Guwahati, which was conveyed to them through messages, phone calls and e-mails by 34 Assam Rifles being the Nodal Agency.

The selected candidates were mustered at Bn Headquarter Maram, 34 Assam Rifles on September 28 and were accommodated, provided free messing till September 30 .

On the day, the candidates were transported to Dimapur after Flag Off Ceremony at Maram.

To facilitate centralized and co-ordinated move, train tickets were booked for them by 34 Assam Rifles on October 1 from Dimapur to Guwahati.

A representative detailed form 34 Assam Rifles accompanied these candidates till Taj Hotel Guwahati and ensured their well being and smooth settlement at Guwahati before commencement of training on October 3, added the release.
