Jamshedpur : Three youths trained at Tata Steel backed Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Tamar have bagged overseas job offers in Hong Kong.
Amil Hassan (West Bokaro), Partho Pramanik (Sijua, Dhanbad) and Narendra Kumar Mahato (Ranchi), are all set to join TVSC Construction Steel Solutions, a subsidiary of Hong Kong Shanghai Alliance Holdings Limited, as Assistant Technicians.
Two other youths, Kapildev Pradhan and Gurucharan Bobonga, both from Tata Steel’s operational area in Nomaundi, have also bagged the same job offer. However, these two youths completed their courses from different ITIs.
Mr Debdoot Mohanty, Head (CSR) Jharkhand & New Projects; Capt. Amitabh, Head, Skill Development and Mr Debashis Chatterjee, Sr. Manager – Skill Development, handed over the job offer letters to the selected candidates.
TVSC Construction Steel Solutions was looking for skilled workers for it’s newly opened Rebar Processing Plant in Hong Kong. Tata Steel Skill Development Society (TSSDS) organized an interview of a few candidates through video conferencing. Finally, the aforesaid five candidates were selected.
Salary & facilities: In India, ITI pass candidates get an average starting salary of Rs. 8,000/- per month, whereas in Hong Kong, these candidates will be getting a starting salary equivalent to INR 85,000/- to Rs. 90,000/- per month.
In addition, they will get free furnished accommodation (shared basis) and free transport to workplace and back.
Job Contract: The job contract is for two years which can be extended based on performance and mutual agreement.
About ITI Tamar
In June 2009, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Govt. of Jharkhand and Tata Steel Limited for a period of 30 years to set up and run an Industrial Training Institute in Jharkhand for which the Govt. of Jharkhand would provide land and building at Tamar, approx 70 km from Jamshedpur.
Tata Steel Skill Development Society (TSSDS), a non-profit making society formed by Tata Steel Ltd., has set up TSSDS Pvt ITI, Tamar with state-of-art facilities and has appointed Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF), Bangalore as training service provider to run the institute. The ITI has been operational from Aug 1, 2012 and it’s curriculum includes 5 trades of Fitter, Electrician, Turner, Welder and Mason.
