Visakhapatnam : Skill Development Training Programme to differently-baled people (Divyang), a maiden venture of RINL’s CSR wing in the field of Skill Development in people with disabilities, was inaugurated here on Monday.
The programme is aimed at empowering 100 ‘Divyang’ residing in the surrounding villages of the Plant and other areas of Visakhapatnam with required skills to earn a better livelihood.
RINL has always been in the forefront in terms of extending support to the differently abled persons in the surrounding villages of plant through various CSR initiatives like providing education to differently abled children through Arunodaya Special School, providing artificial limbs, calipers, tricycles to PWDs and thereby improving their quality of life.
The Skill development training facilitated through National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC), set up by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India is organized by Chhattisgarh Industrial & Technical Consultancy Centre (CITCON), Raipur (A Govt. of Chhattisgarh undertaking) at their training center located at Old Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam.
While inaugurating the programme, KC Das, Director (Personnel) RINL, said that people with disabilities are among the most marginalized groups in every society.
They have poorer health outcomes, lower education achievements, less economic participation and higher rates of poverty when compared to other people and hence their empowerment and rehabilitation is given prime importance by Government of India particularly by RINL-VSP.
