As one of the most adversely affected sectors of the country by the COVID-19 pandemic, skill development is an urgent priority for sustainable growth.
Due to a lack of skills, many people have lost their jobs and are struggling to survive. There should be a major focus on continuous training programs for fresh skilling as well thought out schemes for reskilling, upskilling, and life skills in the union budget of 2023.
To this end, promotion of entrepreneurial mindset right from school would presume vital importance. Further, continued emphasis upon innovative schemes like one district one product could be revisited to extend localized opportunities for entrepreneurship.
Systemic resilience and systems preparedness in terms of skill bond and more lucrative funding opportunities requires significant space in the budget.
More innovative approach to offering skilling opportunities in terms of gamified learning platform and skill zones could prove vital in days to come. There are high hopes from Budget 2023 as we march towards making India a skill capital of the world.
