Presently, semester system is being followed by Industrial Training Institutes(ITIs), said Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship which has increased cost of examination and to meet the requirements the examination fees was increased in November, 2014 on the recommendation of National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT). He added, this has not affected the number of admissions in ITIs rather the pressure has been reduced considerably on students as the evaluation process is fast. Also, in the present system, students get chance to appear for exams every six months which has reduced the pressure of examination as compared to yearly examinations. He also provided the statistics of students enrolled in ITIs for the sessions 2014-15 and 2015-16 which shows an increase of more than 26,000 admissions in session 2015-16. A list of 270 de-affiliated ITIs from National Council of Vocational Training(NCVT) during last three years & current year due to lack of infrastructure, shifting of location and own request of institutes, was also provided.
