Ten vocation training centres throughout the country have been selected for new infrastructure buildings fully funded by the European Union. The awarding of contracts worth K36 million, sets another milestone in the partnership between the European Union and the Government of PNG.
The Department of Education will take the lead in supervising and overseeing the development of the infrastructure.
The official signing of contracts for the development of critical infrastructure for 10 selected TVET schools took place yesterday (May 7th) under the European Union-funded human resources development phase two project.
National Planning and Monitoring Secretary, Hakaua Harry, as contracting authority, commended teams from both the European Union, and the Government of PNG in ensuring that the tendering and contracting processes were duly completed within the given time.
Atlas Steel and Rhodes PNG are the successful bidders for this contract and will be working closely with the Education Department to see that these projects are completed successfully.
The 10 TVET schools are Badili and Morata Vocational Training Centers (VCT) in NCD, Raval and Kabaira VCTs in East New Britain Province, Kamaliki VCT in Eastern Highlands Province, Yawasoro VCT in East Sepik Province, Bulolo and Umi VCTs in Morobe Province and Laiagam and Dombabus VCTs in Enga.
