Dhaka : The government has increased the fund for the Skills for Employment Investment Programme (SEIP) from Tk1,050 crore to Tk2,100 crore in the wake of widen project areas.
Senior Finance Secretary Mahbub Ahmed came up with the disclosure while addressing a BIDS seminar titled “Labour Market, human Resource Development and Skill gap in Bangladesh: Macro Level Issues”.
He said: “The Executive Committee on National Economic Council on Tuesday approved the increase in fund for the projects.”
“Under the project, four executive skill development centres will be established in four public and private universities,” said Ahmed.
He also said: “We will also arrange skill training programs abroad for Bangladeshi expatriate semi-skill workers as we have already decided to start such program in Saudi Arabia where highest numbers of Bangladeshi workers are working.”
Director General of BIDS KAS Murshid said: “The special training will need for the semi-skilled workers in RMG sector to increase earning from this sector.”
