New Delhi : During the intergovernmental consultations in October 2015 an agreement was signed between both countries, which renewed this long-standing partnership. As part of this cooperation agreement the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) signed an implementation agreement in August 2016 for a new flagship project in vocational training with a volume of 22 Cr. INR (3 Million EUR).
On the occasion of the first anniversary celebration of IGVET, MSDE and GIZ organised a symposium in Delhi. The guests included Chargé d’Affaires, Dr. Jasper Wieck, the Secretary of MSDE, Dr. Krishnan, Asheesh Sharma, Joint Secretary, MSDE as well as the implementing partners of the states and NCR.
The Indo-German Programme for Vocational Education and Training (IGVET) aims to support the cooperation of the public sector and the private sector for cooperative vocational training models. The project is implemented in the automobile industry (Bangalore), in the electronic industry (Maharashtra) and in the construction sector (Bhiwadi).
With support of the German development cooperation visible results were reached in a short span of time: In Bhiwadi the business association UWDMA developed their own course concept and curriculum together with MSDE. In Aurangabad many agreements were signed between companies as well as educational institutions for the joint training of welders and mechanical engineers. Also in Bangalore a vocational training forum was created, so that the government agencies, business associations and educational institutes work together.
“For a practice-oriented vocational training the close cooperation of private sector and government institutions is of utmost importance. The GIZ has succeeded in establishing a network between relevant public and private partners in three states within the framework of the IGVET-initiative. We would like to deepen and spread this promising approach”, said the Chargé d’Affaires Dr. Jasper Wieck.
