Islamabad: Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Wednesday agreed for partnership between the two organizations for the skill and vocational training of BISP beneficiaries.
The meeting which was held here between the Secretary BISP Omar Hamid Khan and Executive Director NAVTTC Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema who had also chalked out a plan to eliminate poverty under BISP Graduation Programme.
In the opening remarks, the secretary BISP said by creating linkages with specialized organizations like NAVTTC and NRSP, BISP was looking to train its beneficiaries in demand driven trades under its graduation programme.
NAVTTC being the apex body at national level to regulate, facilitate and provide policy direction in vocational and technical training could enable beneficiaries to earn an independent and respectable social up-gradation through skill livelihood.
Executive Director NAVTTC welcomed the initiative of BISP and said the two sides needed to determine the monetary requirements, priority trades, duration of trainings and number of trainings for the partnership. BISP team informed that BISP intended to implement its Graduation Programme in phased-wise manner starting in 20 districts across the country by training around 400,000 beneficiaries in two years.
The two sides agreed to work out the details of the partnership through working group including members from both of the organizations. After finalization of the monetary requirements, priority trades, duration of trainings and number of trainings by the working group, the two sides signed the MoU to step up cooperation.
Senior officials of BISP and NAVTTC were also present in the meeting.
