Peshawar : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) launched an exclusive training here at Government Technical Teacher Training Center (GTTTC) Hayatabad to improve technical skills of teachers of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutes across the province including newly merged districts, said a press release issued here Wednesday.
The training programme is supported by the TVET Sector Support Programme, which is funded by the European Union and governments of Germany and Norway.
The technical skill up-gradation is part of the ongoing TVET sector reform in Pakistan, through which at least 500 teachers from public sector will be trained on technical as well as soft skills i.e. CBT&A, assessment and pedagogy etc Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Provincial Minister for Finance, Taimur Saleem Khan Jhagra underpinned the significance of the teachers which can only be achieved through quality training, improvement in teacher’s tracheal, pedagogical and managerial skills in vocational training.
Mr. Jhagra said that teachers mainly from Machinist, HVACR, Welding, Dress Making, Plumbing, PLC, AutoCAD/ Survey, Electrician present here today can play a vital role in the later career progression of the trainees contributing towards the socio-economic development of the masses.
The minister stressed upon the outcome of the training so that trainees’ employment ratio can be increased to optimum level. He further says that engagement of the private sector is inevitable for TVET reformation in the province.
