Centre sanctioned 21.55 Cr to Himachal Pradesh Govt. for skill development under PMKVY

Union Skill Development and Entrepreneurship ministry on Wednesday sanctioned Rs.21 Crore to the Himachal Pradesh government for skill development under Skill India Mission and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).

A government official said Rs 21.55 Crore have been sanctioned to HP Kaushal Vikas Nigam as 1st tranche towards the implementation of the PMKVY scheme at state level for the period 2017-18. “The funds has been allotted to Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam for the skill development of 49,499 youth in the state for 2017-18,” the official said.

He said under PMKVY 2016-20, a total target of training 20.5 lakh candidates has been fixed for which Rs 3,000 Crore would be allocated to states or Union Territories (UT). Under this Component, 100 per cent funding is borne by the Union government and the implementation is by the state government.

The respective State Skill Development Missions assist in formation of institutional capacities at state or local level for implementation of the PMKVY scheme.

Skill India Mission is the key initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship with an objective of skilling the youth of India and providing increased avenues for employment.
