Dimapur : The Union Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship has formulated a scheme titled “Enhancing skill development infrastructure in NE States and Sikkim” to set up 22 new ITIs in the Northeastern region. Out of the 22 new ITIs, five have been allocated to Assam. Arunachal Pradesh will have four, Tripura and Mizoram three each; Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya will have two each and Sikkim one.
The Centre has also released an amount of Rs 788.50 lakh for the establishment of two new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Nagaland.
According to a statement from Union Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, the number of new ITIs to be established in Nagaland has been proposed to be revised to four, compared to earlier two. There are no ITIs in two districts of Nagaland – Longleng and Kiphire.
Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy at a meeting with Nagaland State Advisor for Department of Treasuries and Accounts Dr TM Lotha in New Delhi yesterday said his Ministry will take steps to establish two additional ITIs in the State.
The statement said two ITIs were covered under up-gradation and five ITIs under Supplementing Deficient Infrastructure in Nagaland. An amount of Rs 1149.47 lakh has been released for this purpose, the statement said.
At the meeting, Rudy and Dr Lotha also discussed the progress of work in Nagaland under “Enhancing Skill Development Infrastructure in NE States & Sikkim” and other schemes in skill development mission.
