Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship celebrating Kaushal Pakhwada from 16th to 31st July

New Delhi : The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is celebrating Kaushal Pakhwada from 16th to 31st July, to mark four successful years of the government’s marquee ‘Skill India Mission’. As part of the fortnight celebratory and awareness building campaign, or pakhwada, the ministry has chalked out an action plan including skill exhibitions, competitions, workshops, mobilisation camps among other activities to advocate the power of skills and make them aspirational for the country’s youth. The campaign was launched by the Hon’ble Minister for MSDE, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey in Delhi on the 15th of July, the fourth anniversary of the Skill India Mission, at a special event at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

With an aim to improve awareness across all parts of the country, the campaign is seeing participation from government ministries and departments, training and academic institutes, beneficiaries, industry bodies and corporates and institutes. A micro-site has also been created to provide all relevant information to the stakeholders along with a provision to upload images and reports pertaining the campaign.

Commenting on the campaign, Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dr. Pandey said, ““Kaushal Pakhwada is an endeavor by MSDE to bring awareness around skill development and its relevance to today’s time and age. It is a drive to sensitize the youth about the offering under Skill India, encouraging them to join the silent revolution which will bring about sustainable growth for the nation and for the individual. Parents and peers should be sensitized how skills can bring respect to a person and to productivity to his professional outcome.”

“States and heads of organization should use this opportunity to engage with the youth directly and talk about opportunities across sectors and geographies for skilled professionals. Today’s youth is full of hope and dreams of a new progressive India. This is our opportunity to drive this dialogue and get more and more people in the formally recognised skill ecosystem,” Dr. Pandey added.

During the campaign, the Ministry is also hosting a photography competition for all titled #Skills4All with an aim to capture a skillset or a person engaged in work. The competition is a step to engage with the youth and showcase skills from across the country.

Additionally, the ministry is also urging the partners to organize awareness workshops in career counselling, digital and financial literacy, soft skills and entrepreneurial skills. There is also a session on “Inclusivity in Skill Ecosystem for Sustained Economic Growth” aimed at sensitization towards gender equality, women participation, persons with disability and marginalized communities.
