IAS Atul Kumar Tiwari to be new Secretary at Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship

15 September, New Delhi: On Thursday, in a major bureaucratic-level reshuffle, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by the Prime Minister has approved the appointment of Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari (IAS) as Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Presently, he is posted as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Mr. Tiwari is a 1990 batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre. Besides studying History, Political Science and Economics, he has done MBA in Public Service from Birmingham (UK), M.Phil. in Social Science from Panjab University, and recently L.L.B from Delhi University.

Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari joined the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in November 2020 as Additional Secretary. He was given an additional charge of DG at Directorate General of Training (DGT) in December 2021. In May 2022, his role was upgraded to Special Secretary at the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

While serving the State of Karnataka, Mr. Tiwari worked with KSSIDC, Commerce & Industries Department, Urban Infrastructure Development & Finance, Healthcare, Education Department etc. During his tenure with the central government, he worked at Joint Secretary level with the Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

He will take charge from Shri Rajesh Aggarwal (IAS) upon his appointment as Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
