New Delhi : Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), one of the key industry chambers organized Pre Final Selection for “World Skills 2017” which is going to be held at Abu Dhabi in October 2017.
FICCI Skills Department has partnered with apex institutions namely Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and Pearl Academy for organizing regional and national competitions for ‘Fashion Technology’ for a build-up to World Skills level. National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has appointed FICCI to facilitate the competitions.
As facilitator in partnership with mentor organizations, FICCI organized the 4 days intensive Pre Final Selection Competition from 11th- 14th February 2017 to identify candidates for final selection competition basis which the finalist would represent India for ‘Fashion Technology’ in World Skills Competition at Abu Dhabi in October. This competition was held on the format of WorldSkills 2015 held at Sao Paulo.
A panel of eminent jury members, Dr Bhawana Chanana, Director and Professor, Amity Institute of Fashion Technology, Amity University, Mumbai, leading designers Liz Paul and Gazal Gupta evaluated the competition. Parwaz Ansari and Talat Razia from ATDC and Pearl Academy respectively emerged as the shortlisted candidates to appear for Final Selection Competition.
Atishai Saxena, Senior Asst. Director, FICCI Skills Department and Mallika Marwah, Research Associate, FICCI along with other team members facilitated the whole competition.
