New Delhi : Recognizing the efforts made by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in imparting skill development training to its soldiers, Indian Army today awarded Mr Shahbaz Mohd Khan, Project Lead, NSDC with Vice Chief of Army Staff Commendation Award Medal. On behalf of the Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt. General MMS Rai, the Commendation Award Medal was pinned by Major General (R) Deepak Sapra, in presence of Mr. Manish Kumar, Managing Director & CEO, NSDC, Brig. H S Kahlon, DDG, Adjutant General Branch at a gala ceremony held at the NSDC office.
The Vice Chief of Army Staff Commendation Award is awarded as a recognition for individual acts of gallantry or distinguished service and devotion to duty performed. It is given to civilians in very exceptional cases and this time Mr. Khan is the only civilian in the list of awardees. Mr. Khan has been instrumental in mobilizing skill initiatives for the Indian Army Personnel and their families and is coordinating through NSDC to facilitate resettlement through a financially viable career serving the civil society and adequate skilling to ensure gainful employment of these personnel and support to their families.
One of the other major initiatives under the partnership, Indian Army’s first ever Army Skill Training Centre (ASTC) was also inaugurated recently in Delhi by Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, a step towards fulfilling the dream of the Hon’ble Prime Minister to make India a skilled Nation.
Besides collaborating with the Indian Army, NSDC has also been implementing various skill development initiatives with Indian Air Force and Indian Navy under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.
