Guwahati : The Electronics and Information, Communication Technology (E & ICT) Academy, set up by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information, Technology engaged Damyant Software to conduct a short-term skill training on “Mobile Application Development” at IIT Guwahati.
Participants who have attended the programme included faculties from NIT Goa, NIT Manipur, Indraprastha University Delhi, students from Arunachal Pradesh and developers from different companies. The content of the course covered all relevant topics related to Mobile Application Development, where the participants successfully developed interesting mobile applications using Ionic and cornova framework.
“The participants rated the programme highly recommendable for students who are interested in making a career in mobile application development. The course was conducted under the leadership of Hemen Goswami, MS and Phd in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology, Florida in USA. He has a more than 20 years of experience in managing and building mission critical enterprise applications. After the completion of the training, Goswami suggested there should be at least three months skill development training programme as part of the curriculum in colleges and another semester for internship,” an organizer said.
“The main problem is not the lack of jobs but simply that the applicants lacks the right set of skills. A year back, when we were recruiting mobile application developers for our projects, we were not able to find suitable candidates with the required skillset,” he said urging other universities and colleges of the region to contact the hosts to contact for organizing similar events in the campuses.
