5.05 million jobs up for grab across sectors, Retail, FMCG and Telecom to become high potential sectors

TeamLease Services released their ‘Jobs & Salaries Primer Report (FY-2017-18)’ which relates salaries to skills across selected cities and industries from April 2017 to March 2018. The report analyses 17 sectors across 9 cities estimates creation of over 5.05 million jobs across multiple sectors like BPO & IT Enabled Services, E-Commerce, Fast Moving Consumer Durables, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, IT & Knowledge Services, Retail and Telecommunications.

The retail sector alone will create 1.2 million jobs by 2022 boosting the employment in the sector. Some of the new forecasted jobs in the sector are Manager Back-end Operations, Retail Buyers, Pre-sales Managers, Online Merchandisers and E-Marketing Executives. The sector will continue its trailblazing growth aided by multiple factors like GDP growth, increased consumption and a rapidly evolving consumer base.

The telecommunication sector which is witnessing significant consolidation is set to re-emerge as the primary job creator, bringing 1 million new jobs by 2022. Some of the emerging roles in the sector are Network Security Administrators, Technology Director, Team Leader – Installation and Data Team Leader.

E-commerce which is a rapidly growing industry is aided by multiple policy changes, large-cap mergers & acquisition and increase private investments in the sector. According to the report, the sector will create 8 lakh employment opportunities across multiple job profiles.

“The Fast Moving Consumer Goods/Durables sectors will create 1.35 million jobs by 2022. While the new roles created in the FMCG sector will be Head/Manager Maintenance and FMCG Brand Managers. The Fast moving consumer durables sector will create roles like Regional Sales Managers, Customer Experience Executive and Cluster Heads.”
