New Delhi : All India Council for Technical Education (A Autonomous Body Under – Ministry of Human Resource Development ) Government of India, National Career Service – Ministry of Labour and Employment, GOI and All India Technical and Management Council (AITMC), a non-government organization announced the launch of Earn While Learn (EWL) – an initiative under which AITMC will collaborate with industries and business owners to educate and develop the skill set of youth pan-India across industries, and provide them assured livelihood. It supports the Government of India’s vision of developing a strong & sustainable economy by enhancing employable skills among the youth, getting them job ready and providing an occupation. It is a flagship programme of AITMC with an aim to address the biggest challenge of Rural Unemployment and Migration of Youth from Rural areas to Urban areas in search of Job/employment opportunities.
The initiative was announced at AITMC and AICTE Global Summit 2017. Announcing the launch, Dr. Anil D Shasrabudh, Chairman, AICTE said, “Earn While Learn supports the Skill India mission and will be creating 1.5 million jobs in 550 districts of India within a year. Our vision is to develop local markets and address the requirements of rural India by educating youth residing in these districts and enabling them in developing and distributing products within their region. The initiative will uplift the standard of living in rural India by addressing critical challenges and livelihood issues. We thank AITMC for pioneering this initiative.”
The strategy behind EWL supports the vision of a re-balanced economy, that will have a growing and diversified business base. The program outlines the need to introduce new and innovative skills amount the youth increasing our economic growth and competitiveness. The plan supports India’s economic strategy and will help people into finding sustainable livelihoods.
Speaking on the announcement, Mr. Avnish Ranga, General Manager, AITMC said, “Earn while learn is our dream project that will provide a multi-dimensional platform to the industry, academic institutions to develop skills and create jobs for over 1.5 million youth, thereby effectively addressing the challenges of rural India.”
“We will be training rural youth in macro technology to develop products that suit their region, thereby creating job opportunities for them. EWL will collaborate with industry leaders in creating these assembly facilities. These products will be assembled by young students and sold in the rural market, providing enhanced business opportunity for the industry, practical learning to the students, therefore, addressing challenges of the rural India such as fresh drinking water, transportation, electricity etc.” Mr. Ranga added.
EWL has formed strategic partnerships with companies including Kent RO Systems Limited, Blue Mount Water Purification Systems Ltd, Arise India Limited & Krishna e-Rickshaw so far and will be launching the initiative in 50 districts in June 2017 and 75 districts in July 2017. The first phase will be launched in collaboration with universities such as Reva University, Bangalore; PM institution, Sonipat; Deshbhagat University, Punjab; Delhi College of Technology & Management, Palwal and OM group of Institutions, Hissar.
