Amritsar : In a move to benefit students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced vocational courses in Class IX. Students appearing for exams in Class IX will have an option to replace maths, science and social science subjects with a vocational subject in case they fail to clear any of the three subjects.
The move has been introduced in Class IX at present and it will be applicable for Class X from the next academic session. As per local CBSE officials, the move will prove beneficial for students lacking in the three subjects. However, the board has made it compulsory to pass all languages (subjects).
Dharamvir Singh, CBSE coordinator, said: “There are some students who fail to clear these subjects as they lack aptitude for a particular subject. The decision will help such students.”
