Chandigarh : CII President Rakesh Bharti Mittal today said that industry should not only partner with academia for recruitment, but should also engage with educational institutions while they design their curriculum, to bridge the skill gap and make the youth more job ready.
Addressing the CII North India Business Conference here, Mr Mittal said, “we must ensure that the youth of our country is well trained to understand and use the emerging technologies, which would adequately address issues around skills and employment.”
He further mentioned that North India is a vital component in the wheel of economic opportunities in the country.
Mr Mittal also encouraged North Indian States to promote Solar farming as a third crop which could provide energy efficiency and become an alternate income source to farmers in times of poor weather conditions.

Sectors allied to agriculture such as food processing, cold chain, logistics, livestock, fishery and many more have expanded its horizons and increased the demand for skilled manpower.
He said, “with working together on inclusive development, we should also ensure that we are creating an ecosystem that fosters sustainable development for its future generations.”
He also acknowledged that the region is slowly improvising in terms of infrastructure sighting the example of the upcoming Ludhiana airport which is strategic in terms of both industrial travel and freight movement.
Mr Mittal encouraged the participants at the Conference by saying that North India should take the lead in making India the third largest growing economy by 2030 and shape the dimensions of a New India.
