HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company, a leading general insurance company in India launches the ‘Vidyaavriksh’ learning academy, to enhance the skills of the young workforce.
The academy aims to focus on specialized courses and function-specific training pathways under seven distinct academies namely Leadership Development, Customer Experience, Digital, Sales, Finance, Technical, and Human resources. India is at a burgeoning point when it comes to the young workforce. Studies suggest that 100 million youth are expected to enter India’s workforce by 2030*. While this is a great opportunity, the fact remains that lack of skillset among youth is a major challenge today. 75% of companies feel that there is a gap in the desired skillset among youth, which will result in 44% of the youth being unemployable by 2030. HDFC ERGO’s Vidyaavriksh will help in bridging this gap and make youth future ready. The curated training programs will skill, re-skill and up-skill the youth of India to step onto accelerated professional growth. Speaking at the launch, Anuj Tyagi, Deputy Managing Director, of HDFC ERGO said, “Learning is the new currency and skill will be the primary differentiator going forward. At HDFC ERGO, we believe in the philosophy – the future is here and now, and Vidyaavriksh is a step towards realizing that. Starting with employees and partners, through this academy, we aim to serve the community at large towards skill development.” At HDFC ERGO, our customers and employees are at the center of our initiatives. As an organization, we firmly believe in continuous learning and thrive on innovation. However, one challenge that Corporates collectively face today is the mismatch in skill leading to a talent crunch. Organizations need to collaborate and work towards addressing this increasing skill gap to improve employability. Our learning academy ‘Vidyaavriksh’ will transform the skill ecosystem of our nation and empower the youth with the right skill set and prepare a future-ready workforce empowered to contribute to the economic growth of our nation.” The academy’s launch was led by a keynote speech from Manish Kumar, Ex MD & CEO, of NSDC, who spoke about the existence of skill gaps, and the roles the private sector & government play in connecting employment to skilling. The management guru, Gurcharan Das also graced the launch ceremony and enthralled the audience with his simple and meaningful lessons about overcoming challenges and the value of incremental business growth. The initiatives under Vidyaavriksh will be rolled out in three phases, with Phase 1 being opened to the employees of HDFC ERGO, and Phases 2 and 3 are further extended to channel partners and communities at large.
