In pursuance of the provisions of the Notification No. SD-17/113/2017-E&PW dated 5.12.2018 notifying National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), the National Skills Development Agency (NSDA) will be subsumed in NCVET w.e.f. 31.07.2020. For smooth transition from NSDA and NCVET, the NCVET took the following decisions in its meeting held on 21.07.2020:
- All existing Awarding Bodies (recognised by NCVET/NSDA notifications or alignment of qualifications to NSQF) & Assessment Agencies (recognized by the respective, recognized, Awarding Bodies) will continue to exist till the new NCVET Guidelines for recognition of Awarding Bodies & Assessment Agencies are implemented, or till expiry of their respective approval period, whichever is earlier.
- All qualifications approved by NSQC will continue as per existing terms & conditions of approval.
- Any other activity which NSDA may have permitted, for which NCVET has not issued any order, would continue till the period of approval, or till any other order of NCVET, whichever is earlier.
- The NCVET is in the process of developing guidelines for recognition of Awarding Bodies & Assessment Agencies. The existing Awarding Bodies & Assessment Agencies will be granted a transition period of maximum one year post adoption of the guidelines by the NCVET.
