A skill development centre (SDC) will be set up on the proposed Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) campus at Kudapur in Challakere taluk of the district in the next few years, IISc. Kudapur in-charge Raghunandan has said. Speaking at a meeting recently, he said that an action plan had been prepared and the foundation stone would be laid in next two months. It was expected to cost Rs. 52 crore.
The intention behind opening the centre was to improve the skills of teachers and students from across the country, Mr. Raghunandan said. He said that the project of supplying water from Vani Vilas Sagar to the Kudapur unit of the IISc. was in the last stages and it would be completed in the next few months. IISc. Special Officer H.S. Jagadish said that the new unit to study the weather conditions would start functioning shortly on the Kudapur campus.
