India’s first Rail University started operations to skill youth for transportation sector

Vadodara: The National Rail and Transport University, NRTU is India’s first Rail University set up in Vadodara, Gujarat under the aegis of Indian Railways. The University would be commencing the classes for its first batch on Teachers’ day, Septemeber 5, 2018. NRTU would pave a way for various employment opportunities in Indian Railways. It would boost the Indian Railways by skilling the students and improving the productivity. The University is spread across 55 acres of campus. All the programs of the University are accredited by UGC and AICTE

The Rail University would start the first academic year from tomorrow with latest technology applications like- Radio frequency Identification, Artificial Intelligence and satellite-based tracking.The latest gizmos would help the students to improve the practical knowledge and performance. The main objective of the University is to foster entrepreneurship and generate large scale employment opportunities. It would help the youth in honing their skills to work in Indian Railways.

The University offers two multi disciplimary courses for Undergraduate students– B.S.C in Transport Technology and B.B.A in Transport Management.An aptitude test was conducted to admissions in NRTU. The students selected fall in the age limit of 25 years. The ministry of Railways created the University to help build human resource for Indian Railways. The admission process was started in August, 2018. And now it is all set to kickstart the first batch.

The Rail University has been set up to achieve, the vision of PMO’s Make in India, Skill India and Startup India schemes. Indian Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal said,” India’s first National Rail & Transportation University is set up to transform Indian railway and transport sector for a New India.”
