JK Tyre Indian Karting Race 2023 drives innovation and skill development amongst engineering students

Greater Noida: The highly anticipated JK Tyre Indian Karting Race 2023, organized by the Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIEINDIA) in collaboration with Galgotias University, Gr. Noida, has successfully concluded. The event saw participation from over 800 engineering students hailing from 16 different states of India, all coming together to showcase their talent in Electric and Combustion Vehicle Design and Manufacturing.

This year’s race provided a remarkable platform for these young talents to explore the cutting-edge technology and innovation in the automotive sector. Students were able to benefit from the mentorship of the ISIEINDIA technical committee, allowing them to work on various aspects such as vehicle design, dynamics, powertrains, and safety features.

The JK Tyre Indian Karting Race, which has been an annual initiative since 2014, has played a pivotal role in promoting skill development and innovation among engineering students in India.

The event commenced with an exhilarating opening ceremony on 12th October, graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Rodney Reviere, Project Head (IGVET, GIZ India), and Dr. Buddha Chandrashekhar, Chief Coordinating Officer, AICTE, Ministry of Education, who served as the respected chief guests. Dr. Prasenjit Ghosh, Director (HASETRI, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd), added to the distinguished guest list.

The event was further enriched by the presence of several esteemed guests, including Dr. K. Mallikharjuna Babu, Vice Chancellor, Galgotias University, Mr. Sanchit Chopra, Sr. Vice President, EaseMyTrip, Dr. Tushar Sharma, Country Manager – Academics, ANSYS Software Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Pritish Shubham, Technical Specialist, Altair Engineering, Dr. Nitin Kumar Gaur, Registrar, Galgotias University, and Ms. Khushboo Chanana, Founder & CEO, Skill Reporter, all of whom played a crucial role in making the event a resounding success.

The event’s agenda included team registration and a pre-safety inspection to ensure the safety of all participants. The attendees were treated to an expert talk by ANSYS and placement drives by EVage Motors and ISIEINDIA, which left them inspired and motivated.

The technical inspection was efficiently conducted, and the participating teams showcased their projects and prototypes with enthusiasm. Team Duece Racers from Lovely Professional University emerged as the first to clear the technical inspection, winning the first TI qualification award. Team Luftwaffe Racing from Rajarambapu Institute of Technology claimed the top spot in the Engineering Design Round, and Team Scavengers from Madhav Institute of Technology & Science claimed the top spot in the Innovation Round.

The event witnessed various competitions, including brake tests, acceleration tests, and cross pad challenges, showcasing the passion and skill of young engineers. Notable winners included Team Forza VJTI from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Team Tyrants from Gitam Deemed to be University, Team Luftwaffe Racing from Rajarambapu Institute of Technology, Team Trinity Karterz from Punjabi University, and Team Forza VJTI from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute.

In addition to these awards, several other recognitions were presented to acknowledge the outstanding contributions and spirit of the participants. Prof. B R Patil from MIT Academy of Engineering received the Dronacharya Award, while Ms. Anushka Vaidya from CSMSS Chh. SHAHU COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING was honored with the Best Women Participant Award. Team Zenith from G.B Pant DSEU Okhla I Campus received the People’s Choice Award.

On 16th October 2023, the event culminated with the grand finale at Buddh International Circuit, featuring the presence of Shri Dhirendra Singh (MLA, Jewar), Dr. Dhruv Galgotia (CEO, Galgotia’s University), Mr. Vinod Gupta (Founder and CEO, ISIEINDIA), Mr. Sanjay Sharma (Head JK TYRE Motorsports), Mr. Ashoka from Bosch Global Software Technologies, VC, Pro-VC, and HODs from Galgotias University.

The winners of the JK Tyre Indian Karting Race 2023 were Team Luftwaffe Racing for the EV category and Team Infinity Racers for the CV category. The awards were presented by India’s 1st Arjun Awardee and 3-times Asia Pacific rally champion Mr. Gaurav Gill from JK Motorsports.

The event not only celebrated racing but also introduced a national record book to create technological competition among teams and promote entrepreneurship. It featured new-age technology-led innovations in Electric and hybrid vehicle powertrain, battery and BMS, BTMS, AI, and IOT-based vehicle telematics, demonstrated by the teams.
