Bengaluru : A skill development university, named after Bengaluru founder Kempegowda, will be set up in the state in the coming days, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said on Wednesday.
Addressing an event organised by the state government to mark Kempegowda Jayanti celebrations, he said the university was part of his ‘dream to provide employment for youth’. Additional funds will also be allocated for a museum with artefacts and historical information about Kempegowda. While admitting that farm loan waiver was not the solution for farmer distress in the state, he said that it was required to temporarily reduce the stress farmers were facing.
“To empower farmers economically, the state government will introduce new policies in the upcoming budget,” he said. Water Resources and Medical Education minister D K Shivakumar urged the CM to name one of the universities carved out of Bangalore University after Kempegowda.
