Kerala Government to include skill development in SCERT curriculum from next year : Education Minister

Thiruvananthapuram : The state curriculum committee meet on Tuesday presided by Education Minister C Raveendran decided to include skill development in the curriculum from next year onwards. The SCERT has been entrusted with the draft preparation for this.

The national level skill development programme will be included in the syllabus from class one to ten apart from VHSE.

The national level programme was to enable the students in any of the jobs. But in the state it will be implemented so as to create a positive attitude towards jobs in every student. Earlier, only the VHSE curriculum was having the skill development programme.

SCERT will also study about modifying the textbooks and syllabus based on ICT and skill development programme. The DF course, a modified version of the TTC course, have been renamed as Diploma in Elementary Education.

SCERT will also ensure the fulfilling of the academic days and hours as per the Right to Education Act. 800 days in LP, 1000 in UP, HS and 1200 in HSS has to be ensured according to the Act.
