MHRD asked VCs of 10 universities to submit annual plan and programmes on skill development

Bhubaneswar: Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has asked 10 universities of the country including Utkal University to prepare its annual plan and programmes for skill development and entrepreneurship.

“MHRD has asked vice chancellors of 10 universities of the country like us to submit annual plan and programmes on skill development and entrepreneurship by end of this month. We will send our strategy within the deadline,” said Soumendra Mohan Patnaik, vice-chancellor of the university.

The MHRD has sanctioned fund under the Rashtriya Uchchattar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) for development of quality education and research. Skill development and entrepreneurship is one of the major points in the scheme.

“We have been asked to develop a roadmap for incubation and entrepreneurship development. We have to inform them about our focus area and give proposals for a good syllabus on skill enhancement. Foreign universities like Stanford, Yale Chicago, Columbia and Berkley will help these Indian universities to prepare the roadmap,” he added.

Patnaik said a Fortune 500 company will help these 10 universities to execute the skill development programmes. It will be a great help for the youths of the state, he added.

HRD minister Prakash Javadekar in May this year had announced in a twitter post about approval of Rs 100 crore for Utkal University to enhance its quality and excellence.
