New Delhi : The budget documents showed that the proposed outlay to the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has been raised to Rs 3,400 crore in 2018-19, as against the revised estimate of Rs 2,356.22 crore in the current financial year, said  Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Unveiling the last full-year budget of the BJP-led NDA government before the General Elections next year, Jaitley said 306 Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras have been established for imparting skill training through such centres.

The government is setting up a model aspirational skill centre in every district of the country under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra Programme.

“The government proposes to develop ten prominent tourist sites as Iconic Tourism destinations through holistic infrastructure and skill development. In addition, tourist amenities will be upgraded at 100 Adarsh Monuments of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI),” Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said in his Budget speech.

The Adarsh Monuments – which include sites like the monuments in Karnataka’s Hampi and Pattadakal group of monuments, Delhi’s Humayun’s Tomb, Maharashtra’s Elephanta Caves and Odisha’s Konark Temple – will undergo skill development, branding and marketing. The National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojna (HRIDAY) has been taken up to revitalize heritage cities, he added.
