New Delhi : National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has entered into Memorandum of Understanding with Directorate General of Training (DGT) to offer skill courses through Distance Learning Mode to attain the following objectives :
(i) break the barriers between school education and skill development;
(ii) open pathways for ITI pass outs (from regular course of Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) under NCVT) for horizontal and vertical mobility;
(iii)enhance employability of NCVT certified, ITI pass outs;
(iv) enable NCVT certified, ITI pass-outs to move to appropriate academic courses / programs (Senior Secondary / Degree Courses);
(v) accept subjects taught under CTS of NCVT at ITI for academic equivalence under credit transfer; and
(vi) enable NCVT certified, ITI learners to earn Secondary / SeNCVT, nior Secondary qualification.
NIOS will accept credit transfer of three core subjects successfully completed by a trainee in any of the regular course under Craftsmen Training Scheme of NCVT pursued in an ITI and will offer two courses in the following groups to complete the requirement for Secondary / Senior Secondary certification:
(a) One Language Course of NIOS ,
(b) Any one of the academic subjects offered by NIOS
The learners would have to complete minimum 5 subjects for certification. The combination will include 3 subjects from Group A, 1 from Group B and 1 from Group C. Refer NIOS notification No. 268/2016 (F-23-1-11/2016/NIOS/SSS/Acc/11; For details, Click here to refer Government Notification )
Accredit ITIs affiliated by NCVT as its Study Centres, which would be known as Special Accredited Institutions for Academic and Skill Development (SAIASD) for training the learners. The Accreditation fee for the accreditation of SAIASD would be as under :
(i) Fresh Accreditation (for SAIASD) – Rs. 20,000 (For 05 years)
The learners studying in regular course of CTS under NCVT in ITI’s would you be eligible for admission under this program. The learners joining the 2 year course in ITI under CTS of NCVT after class 8th would be eligible to enroll simultaneously with NIOS for Secondary Course with one language and one academic subject being offered by NIOS. Similarly, learners joining 2 years course of ITI’s under CTS of NCVT, after class 10th would be eligible to enroll simultaneously in NIOS for Senior econdary level with one language and one academic subject being offered by NIOS. The NIOS would accept Transfer of Credits for 3 subjects from ITI Course under CTS of NCVT, under its Transfer of Credits (TOC) Scheme.
The learners who have already completed 2 years NSQF compliant course as regular trainee from any ITI under CTS of NCVT would also be eligible for admission with NIOS for Secondary or Senior Secondary Certification as the case may be. SAIASDs would collect Admission Fee, fee for the Transfer of Credit (TOC), examination fee and any other fee as per NIOS norms, along with application forms.
