Odisha won Prime Minister’s Award for ‘Best State in Skill Development’

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has won the Prime Minister’s Award for ‘Best State in Skill Development’ for second year in a row.

The Naveen Patnaik-led government bagged the prestigious award for the successful implementation of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY). Besides, it has successfully trained and ensured placement of 96,000 rural youths.

The Odisha government has also created sustainable income source for 70,000 youths and its agency Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) has covered 1/5th of national skilling target.

Taking to his twitter handle, Chief Minister Naveen said, “#Odisha bags Prime Minister’s Award for ‘Best State in Skill Development’ for the second time in a row. Stealing the march over major states, Odisha with its out-of-the-box initiatives is now a model in skilling. Congratulations to @PRDeptOdisha & Team ORMAS for the achievement.”

Patnaik also informed that the state government has set a target of skilling 1 lakh youths in next two years.
