Patna : With a view to incorporating quality elements and inculcating value system among students, Patna University (PU) on Saturday decided to include the teaching of gender sensitization, skill development and employability, environment and sustainability, and professional ethics in the curricula of its post graduation courses in all the faculties from the current session (2017-18) itself.
At a meeting of the university academic council held here under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor R B P Singh, it was decided that one extra unit would be added in each paper of Semester IV of 30 contact hours each. Gradually, from the 2018-20 session, there will be five (instead of the existing four) papers in each semester and the fifth paper in each semester would consist of the newly introduced topics. These papers would be qualifying in nature and the pass mark will be 40 out of 100. The marks obtained by a student in these papers would not be considered for deciding the class or grade, but it would be mandatory to pass in these papers.
The academic council approved the uniform ordinance and regulations governing award of PhD degrees by the universities of Bihar as approved by the chancellor’s office.
It was also decided in the meeting that necessary steps would be taken by all the postgraduate departments to submit the details of their academics in NAAC format at the earliest so that the self study report (SSR) of PU many be submitted to NAAC in December itself for its assessment and accreditation of the university.
A three-member committee headed by pro-VC Dolly Sinha was constituted to make necessary amendment in the format of certificate given to the PhD awardees of pre-2009 period.
