Chandigarh : Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Amarinder Singh on Tuesday said in past 10 months of his government, more than 40,000 youth have got jobs in the state through the job fairs.
Stating this in a tweet, the CM said registration has now started for the 2nd state level mega job fare and will continue till March 8. He invited job seekers and employers to get themselves registered on his government’s job portal, http://www.ghargharrozgar.punjab.gov.in.
Punjab government’s ambitious employment scheme ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ (job for every household) has so far failed to get the expected response with only about 170 employers enrolling to the dedicated web portal for the scheme.
Till recently, the state government’s Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) has conducted a skill gap survey in all 22 districts finding around 3,000 immediate jobs in almost 500 units.
The Punjab government has decided to organize its second state level job fair from 20 February to 10 March across the state. Help desks at the government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and Polytechnic Colleges are settled to provide help for applying online for the job fair.
In order to meet its pre-poll promise ‘GharGharRozgar’, the Punjab government in its maiden budget has claimed to generate three lakh jobs during in next five years. For this purpose, the government has approved a budget of Rs 91 Crore for the development of Employment Generation and Training programme.
In September, 2017, launching the first mega job fair under the scheme, the Punjab government claimed to handover 27,000 appointment letters, including 3,000 for government posts to jobless youth from the state.
