President Pranab Mukherjee today said skill development among youth of the country is on top of the agenda and aim was that India’s youth improve its skill sets by at least 50 percent by 2020 should be achieved.
Speaking at a function to mark Akshaya Patra rolling out Two billion meal, at International Society for Krishna Conscious (ISKCON) here, he said people should not simply criticize the governments for falling short of their promise, but ensure that they contribute for betterment of the society.
”Criticizing the government is not the solution, we should ask how we are contributing towards empowering the youth, from the poor background, in gaining skills. Hunger, poverty and malnutrition have remained the main problem of the country and we should end it.Akshaya Patra is contributing well towards this end,” Mr Mukherjee said. He said India having demographic advantage should use it to the maximum but the bridge between the poor parents and those who can afford better lives for their children, especially the rich,” should be closed’.
To make this happen the public and organizations like Akshaya Patra should take up the issue, and I am happy that Akshaya Patra had been performing well to help poor students in government schools get educated better. ”I say this because because malnutrition had affected young children in some parts of the society and it is the duty of the nation to ensure that school going children bet better food.
